LIBRARY

The MCE Library

The Library has a robust collection of over 60,000 Books. The library Air conditioned facility and provides access to the best of digital resources through its subscription to various databases consisting of scholarly and industry relevant contents.

The MCE-Central Library provides information services and access to the full text digital and printed resources to support the scholarly and information needs of the institute community. Library has also amazingly good collection of reference books like; Encyclopedia, Dictionaries, Handbooks, ISI codes, Yearbooks, Biographical sources Tamil novels etc.

Central Library has subscribed for 60+ Technical printed journals, 200+ International Journals and 30 General Magazines. All in-house operation in the library are fully computerized using library software “LIPS” (Library Information Processing Systems) powered by Dolphin software solution and provides web-based access to the online catalogue of library.

MCE-Central Library offers a fully integrated and Dynamic environment for conducting academic study. Multiple copies ensure that resources are easily available in Reference section and Stack section as well. Besides this library lends books and Journals, Back volumes, reservation of books Photocopying, CD/DVD service through intranet.

General Rules & Regulations
  • Identity Card is compulsory for getting access to the library.
  • Silence is to be maintained.
  • No discussion is permitted inside the library.
  • Registration should be done to become a library member prior using the library resources.
  • No personal belongings are allowed inside the library.
  • Multiple copies of same author/title will not be issued against one ID card.
  • Textbooks, printed materials and issued books are not allowed to be taken inside the library.
  • Using Mobile phones and audio instruments with or without speaker or headphone is strictly prohibited in the library premises.
  • Students and staff must scan their bar coded roll numbers in the ID to the E-Gate register during entry and exit compulsorily.
  • Books and other materials which are being taken out of the library should be shown to the staff at the entrance counter.
  • The librarian may recall any book from any member at any time and the member shall return the same immediately.
  • Refreshment of any kind shall not be taken anywhere in the library premises.
  • Books and other materials borrowed should be returned on or before the due date. Fine will be charged for the delayed period.
  • Students are advised to handle the books/ journals very carefully. Marking with pencil, writing, (or) highlighting, tearing the pages (or) mutilating the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously.
  • Staff and students shall obtain no dues certificate upon closing their library account by returning all the books issued or paying out standing dues if any.

The above rules and regulations are intended to regulate the use of library resources and will be reviewed periodically by the library Advisory committee to meet the changing needs and it will be informed to the members through notice board as and when required.

  • Books will be renewed two times only for student’s category. A late fee of 500/- per day, the overdue must be cleared on the spot.
  • It is required for all the members to show their college identity card at the time of issuing books.
  • Library borrower’s ticket is not transferable.
  • Before borrowing the books, please verify the physical condition of the books. If you find physical condition of the book is not good please inform to the library staff immediately.
  • The borrower will be responsible for any damage found while returning books. If any volume of a multi volume books is lost then borrower should pay double the cost of the entire set of the books.
  • If any student caught, stealing books or tearing pages will have to pay entire cost of the books plus Rs. 500/- or Student have to submit 5 suggested books in the library as a penalty. Concern student’s Library account will be suspended for two months in addition to the disciplinary action taken by the authorities.
  • If any book is lost by the student, which is not available in the market, he/she is required to pay double the cost of the book. It will be sole responsibility of the borrower to preserve the book and return to the library, however if you lose/misplace the books, you have to report to the Librarian on the same day and clear your Library account by replacing the book within a week.
  • Any student found disobeying Library rules, will immediately be suspended from the library. Identity Card will be collected, and reported to the Head of the Institute for disciplinary action.
  • Library Resources like Newspaper reference books, periodicals, bound volumes, standard, CDS etc. to be referred within library premises.

The library may accept donation of books and other materials etc., from the donors. Such donations once accepted, will become the absolute property of the library


E-Access Rules

  1. Digital library should be used only for educational purposes.
  2. Do not install (or) uninstall any software in DKC.
  3. If any one of systems is not working, report the same to the librarian, and do not try to fix it yourself.
  4. Downloading entire journals issues (or) databases or an entire e- book is strictly prohibited.
  5. User should not forward e-articles or the use of e-articles for commercial purposes
Restrictions on accessing and downloading of licensed e-Resources
  • The e-Resources are licensed for the non-profit educational use of the Institution. Copyright law governs the use of these e-Resources.
Why these things should not be done ?
  •  Improper use can result in denial of access for the whole Institution to all electronic journals from a given publisher.
  •  Access to e-Resources is based on license agreements with publishers.
  •  Library users are permitted to make digital copies of individual documents, that is, to download an individual document temporarily to their own hard disc for non-commercial purposes only.
  •  Under the terms of use it neither permits forwarding electronic versions of articles nor the use of electronic articles for commercial purposes.
  •  Publishers keep track of patterns of use and where the publishers suspect misuse in the form of systematic downloading (eg. more than one article from an issue, continuous downloading from a particular journal etc.).
  •  They will investigate and take action on those who have misused the e-Resources.
  •  There have been instances where publishers have withdrawn access to their online resources to the entire Institution.
  •  This prevents access by the majority of responsible users to information needed for their research and learning.
  •  It becomes obligatory on the library’s part to investigate such misuses and report the same to the publishers.
  •  Takes longer time to get the access restored and convince the publisher that re-occurrence of such misuses will be stopped.
